It was a later part of the evening, near nightfall. Just about everyone had retired at this point to their respective quarters, homes, and couch in Lizicus’ case. Just the faint dim light and sound emitting from HQ’s workshop could be seen and heard.
Miss Laureine taking a little moment to finalize reports on the airships from their previous journeys through the Sea of Clouds, along with some minor repair work. While doing so, the sound of her hammer hitting the anvil to create the repair parts attracted only one person getting ready to head back to the familiar place Reinylla was sleeping: Elizara.
Laureine deep in thoughts & focus on her work hadn’t noticed Elizara enter the workshop, nor did she say anything to Laureine to let her presence be known. Instead, she cautiously walked close by and sat down beside her and just watched as Laureine toiled over the anvil. Once Laureine noticed Elizara sit down, she gave her a warm smile of acknowledgement before returning to her work. Elizara just continued to watch with sharp focus as she continued to finish up the repair parts.
Once she was all done, a small silence filled the workshop, with only the low humming of the navigation panel and project in progress’ HUDs making any sort of noise.
“Hey, uh–“
Elizara began to say while still sitting on the floor.
“Hmm, yes, Mistress?”
At this point Laureine had already gotten up to examine the airship console to oversee repairs.
“…what’s it like to have those horns and a tail?” Laureine paused completely on her task to think a moment, but soon thereafter let out a soft humored sigh before finishing up right-quick. Without saying anything, she walks back over to where Elizara was still sitting; the look on her face was both curious and worried as she might have asked something overly offensive.
Instead, Laureine squats down, smiles, and curls her tail in front of the both of them.
“Here, Mistress.”
She holds the end of her tail out as an offering to Elizara. Reluctantly, Elizara holds it gently, feeling the warm scales across her fingers. She lets out a quick quiet laugh flashing a smile across her face, and then releases Laureine’s tail.
“I-it’s not what I expected, but thank you.”
“You’re very welcome, Mistress.”
Elizara excited fires off a handful of questions towards Laureine, and as best as she can answer them. They spend a bell or so doing this just sitting in the Workshop before the both of them retire for the evening. Elizara manages to safely make it back to where Reinylla is resting, as does Laureine to the quietness of her chambers.
It seemed to have been a good evening to help Elizara feel more more comfortable than she has been prior, and hopefully with that a good night’s rest alongside Reinylla.
Happy Moonfire Faire y’all! May y’all have an absolutely wonderful one this year!!
I think this year’s might be one of my favorites thus so far. The new ship combines almost all of the assortments of entertainment that Moonfire is known for and adds upon it! It kind of reminds me of the really fun and scenic All Saints’ Wake’s Sneaky Hollow they added a few years back but with the jumping puzzle included. The music on the boat changes at night time also to give it that nightly concert vibe; it’s really something to behold.
The event quest itself is pretty short, which seems to be the par for the course with all of the recent ones. There’s some folks who don’t tend to like this, but I’ve never really minded it being on the shorter side to be honest, and with a place to simply just hang out after the fact has far more weight to it personally. The outfit this year is basically a wetsuit with a hoodie and sandals, and it dyes really well – it’s really nice!
Moonfire Faire in general has always had a special place in my heart, and it was also when ‘Totally Not a Gazebo Day’ event happened, which that in itself was such a fun time. I digress, however, and I wish y’all the very best Moonfire Faire season, and certainly head on out to Limsa Lominsa/Costa del Sol to enjoy all of the festivities that the event has to offer!
Hoping to see this make a return for a few years if not more thereafter, as it is really fun nice place to vibe for the season.
Lizicus is somewhat a paradoxical creature. She loves to sleep her days away (usually on the couch in HQ’s upper-entry lounge to get some sun from the window and the fire’s warmth), tends to take everything carefree (to the chagrin of Miss Laureine), and just tends to not worry all that much to be in the now.
However, on the other side she can be deeply sentimental, easily be gazing off into the distance lost in her own thoughts, listen to the people around her and give out some deep advice, or come to the rescue of folks in need.
In this instance, the book she holds. It’s an old book of mine that I have long replaced with a new functional set. Years back, the tablets that spring out stopped functioning properly and the pages grew dim. I just decided to place them in The Archives’ foyer area as an old memento of those early times seeking out Aikirees. However, a curious Au Ra fell upon them and decided to try and fix then.
Miss Laureine, try as she might, never really could get them to work just like they used to – she did manage to get the pages to glow almost like they used to. Moving on to Allagan and Alexandrian technologies, she left the books in her chambers. Meanwhile Lizz, being her usual self, had misplaced her set of rather well-loved books and was in dire need of a pair. Laureine offered her my old books, and after explaining the story behind them, promised to take good care of them.
She did in fact do so, and even without it being fully functional, has managed to thrive in her Archanist skills with them. She protects them quite well, and to this day have never seen them worse for wear – almost the complete opposite sans the tablets. Miss Laureine has mentioned in passing with a little bit of annoyance that she might have drawn a couple of cute doodles on the screens: one of them I know is her and Miss Laureine, but she won’t tell anyone what the other is. It might be us, or it might be something/someone else, but I didn’t mind hearing that she had drawn on it at all, which I believe was a relief to Miss Laureine as well.
Lizicus really is something unique, and even if she’s a bit of a pain to her cousin, she does always mean well in the end to her and to everyone she meets that she calls family or friend.
A while ago, the cousins (as well as Aiki and I) obtained omnicraft status once again for the rest of Dawntrail. Afterwards, there’s usually a rite of passage in obtaining a new outfit to go along with said accomplishment. Miss Laureine has reached her peak form with this ensemble as her crafting outfit of choice this time around.
‘Professor Laureine,’ which seems fitting being the one who has combed more of the Archives than any of us, has delved well deep into Allagan, Alexandrian, and any other otherworldly technologies without question. Keep shining bright, and continue to hone your craft all the way to the stars.
…which is still something she, along with the rest of us, still need to explore eventually.
While Aikirees and I have been in one end of Tural, the cousins were taking part in some touring in the other. Assisting the Tural Tourist Center being Miss Laureine’s top priority to help it flourish to allow as many folks to learn about the local cultures as much as possible; while Miss Lizz wants it to as well, she simply thinks it’s just a very fun, relaxing, and… well ‘rad’ place to taking in the food & nap.
After the two of them take care of their tasks, Lizicus and Laurieine come together to enjoy an evening of chatting while enjoying the scenery and sounds of the waterfall just behind them. It’s a very gorgeous site to behold every single time visiting the area; seeing visitors from across the continent and even beyond enjoying the sites as well is just so the reward both of them love witnessing the most.
This has been years in the making. Lizicus got the Kamuy of the Nine Tails doggo that she’s been seeking out on her journey ever since the early days of traveling around on the First. Still a bit personally concerned with yet another large pupper in and around HQ – as Sirena, and Aikirees have theirs, but I suppose with all of them running around it’ll keep the surrounding area safe from any harm. I-I’ll just keep my ears away from their chompers for a spell.
I think the story goes, according to Miss Laureine, is Lizicus first saw the Kamuy while traveling over in Othard quite some time ago now, and became enamored (read: ‘Rad’ded) with the site that she began to seek them out. At first it was a bit difficult but as time progressed, and a little help from some friendly moogles, she slowly befriended each one by one. Miss Laureine did assist when she could, and now, after going to the ends of the universe and back, she finally was able to earn the right to fly on the big pupper itself.
The rest of us will still have to wait and keep seeking out the remaining Kamuy before earning said right as well, but for now, she is one really happy lizzer. I think Miss Laureine even heard a squeak or two of excitement upon ending the journey, but we’ll just keep that to ourselves.
It’s rather uncommon for Lizicus to be seen lost in thought, but it does happen. Just so happened to catch her off-guard while traversing Western Coerthas one evening while trying to construct some furnishings. The snow slowly landed on her shimmering scales as she looked up to the falling sky, pondering and seemingly in deep thought about everything; including tacos because, of course.
The cold strangely never bothered her, so being in such a revealing top didn’t even phase Lizicus as the stood there nearly enjoying it. What was on her mind? Not even Laureine knows. Lizicus puts up such an incredibly strong ‘happy-go-lucky’ front that even sometimes everyone forgets there’s something deeper to her than just napping and all of the ‘rad!’s’ she’s known to spout.
Perhaps Laureine knows deep down the turmoils in her heart, but really only Lizicus herself knows first and foremost all the thoughts she continues to have.
Give folks hugs even when they don’t seem to need them, they’ll appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. Y’all have a wonderful Wednesday!
One late night, well after all of us had turned in for a nice rest, Laureine decided to step into the wandering corridors of The Archives for some light reading. She’s not unfamiliar with The Archives, as she has done this many of times before, while initially just to place old documents from my desk to the main entry point area in the early summers of being part of EOCA. She’s always had a fascination as to what old tomes, books, and documents she’ll stumble upon in there within The Archives’ many many winding corridors; however, no one really knows what one will find within The Archives now, as it’s become its own entity upon itself.
After a few bells of simply wandering and greeting the local will-o’-wisps that reside within The Archives, Laureine found a nice thick book relating to comparisons of Allagan technology (one of her personal favorite subjects) and other-worldly technologies not familiar to even the Alexandrians. She fell into a deep concentration of all the diagrams with incredibly exquisite details that are far beyond my comprehension, but not for very long as about one-third through the pages, Laureine heard something echoing throughout The Archives that had not ever been heard before.
Placing the book back upon the shelf, Laureine decided to investigate whom or what would/could have made such a sound so deep into The Archives. She had her trusty spear capable of being summoned for the ready at any notice, so she wasn’t concerned for her well-being.
“I-it’s probably one of the Missuses, it has to be this far in The Archives…”
Laureine thought to herself as she continued to cautiously get closer to where she heard such a noise. The thought of it being a malevolent will-o’-wisp did cross her mind, but she was on friendly terms with those denizens of The Archives, so it was quickly dismissed.
“Missuses…? Are one of you in here? …Cuz… is this a prank??”
She inadvertently hoped it was Lizicus just pulling her tail, but alas, that wasn’t the case. The closer Laureine got to where she heard the sound, another strange almost voice-like echoed through the corridors. It sounded like a person, but one unknown to her.
“H-ello…? Is anyone there?”
Laureine called out, but with no response, beyond hearing her own voice bounce across the walls lined with shelves. This was a part of The Archives that Laureine, nor anyone really, has ever ventured through in the past. The corridors themselves seemed to bend as time and space that made it up were being manipulated in some way. She grasped the small node that could summon her spear very tightly now, but restrained from using it as to not make matters possibly worse.
This area of The Archives felt darker, and the eerily quiet of no response to Laureine’s call out began to unnerve even her. Upon getting very close to where she heard the initial sound and voice, Laureine turned into a side corridor to be greeted with a rather big surprise.
“A.. a… Viera!? H-here!?”
Laureine thought to herself in disbelieved surprise. She kneels down to check and see how she is – alive, but just mostly unconscious.
“Where could have you come from…”
This part of The Archives is just endless winding and warping corridors with the main entrance yalms away from here; the questions that began to boil up in Laureine’s mind became near limitless. She looked around at the books to try and understand the context of the situation, but nothing really stood out as a clue. Looking on the ground around the mysterious Viera to see if any of those could be of help to even remotely how anyone could have made it back there.
A scroll near the Viera’s back side faintly glowed with unintelligible letters to Laureine. She picked it up and carefully examined it.
“It’s not Eorzean, nor any language I’ve ever come across while traveling the Realm and beyond. Perhaps a Reflection…?”
She decides to take the scroll with her and ask me about it later on, and upon placing the scroll into her carrying node, the Viera stirs to regain consciousness.
“Hnnng… w-wh–..?”
Her eyes open to see Laureine kneeling over her with a concerned expression.
“Who– wh- what are you…?”
Slowly trying to get up from off the cold ground, Laureine assists.
“H-hey, it’s alright. You’re in a place called The Archives held within Eorzea Cartographers’ Headquarters. I’m Laureine, and you are–?”
The Viera winces back from Laureine’s hands.
“What are you!?”
Laureine pauses, unsure of what to make of the inquiry.
I’m an Au Ra, Miss Viera. We’re fairly common here, but I suspect where you’re from, we are not?”
The Viera shakes her head in disbelief.
“I’m a… what…?” “You’re a Viera, or that’s what you appear to be. The Missus is such one who hails from Southern Othard. Are you familiar with the term?”
The Viera shakes her head at Laureine’s question.
“Never heard of such a place, or this ‘Eorzea Cartographers.'”
The Viera’s ears begin to tingle with subtle twitches to her surroundings.
“W-why is everything so loud? Why can I hear literally everything so clearly?” “It’s your ears; being a Viera gives you heightened sense of hearing to the point of capabilities no one else really can.”
She touches her long lightly fuzzy ears in more disbelief.
“Argh, I don’t understand any of this. How can I be here, what am I!?” “W-well, how about a name for starts, Miss Viera?” “… Elizara.” “Ah! Well, please to meet you Mistress Elizara.”
Laureine bows to Elizara in greeting like she has done so many times to new folks she has met – more times to me than I’d prefer but she really keeps to her etiquette.
Laureine helps Elizara off the ground and begins to explain where they are, what continent, City-State, and what Etheirys is to give her some sort of foundation to see if any of it helps. Unfortunately, Elizara seems to be completely unaware of where she is.
“So, none of that helps?”
Elizara shakes her head more puzzled than before.
“N-no, it doesn’t. L-aureine was it? C-could we please get out of here. The sounds of this area are starting to give me even more of a headache…” “Ah! R-right! Apologizes, Mistress. Let us quit of this place and see what The Missus has to say about what to do.”
Elizara shakes her head in annoyance.
“P-please, just… Elizara. I’m no Mistress.” “A-pologizes, Mistress. It’s rather habitual.”
She shrugs at Laureine and the two of them begin to slowly with caution make their way out of The Archives. The winding feels like it takes many bells before reaching the entry area. As Laureine opens the door to HQ’s first floor, she glances at the wall time-keeper to see only a single bell had passed since her entry into The Archives.
“W-well that’s new…” She remarks with some disbelief at the lack of time that had passed.
“W-well seeing as only a bell has passed since my journey through The Archives and meeting you has happened. It’s still the middle of the night. You can stay in my chambers until the morning. I have a very comfortable area with a warm fire to make you feel at home, I hope.”
Elizara’s annoyed bewildered expression that she has kept for most of the journey out of The Archives softens.
“…Thank you.”
Hearing this delights Laureine as she had been worried all this time of hostilities.
“…Let’s also find you some clothes so you’re not wandering around in skivvies too.”
Laureine lightly chuckles to help break the ever-softened tension. Elizara looks down at her clothes, or rather lack-thereof and smirks in return.
“…Y-yes, I guess that would be a good idea, it’s freezing in here!” “Ah! R-right! One fireplace coming up – that is one accompany we very much do no lack in HQ, Mistress! I’ll get you some tea as well?”
Laureine begins to escort Elizara to her chambers as the night continues for a set of practical clothing, a warm fire, and apparently a strong cup of coffee. This is just the beginning as Elizara adventures have only just begun…
Episode LVI..? – H-hold on a mome–… hmm… T-this week’s regularly scheduled Fashion Report Adventure is interrupted by the cousins it would seem. W-when one is a damsel, but not in distress, and comes prepared for anything that is thrown at them – in Lizicus’ case that might as well mean literally with her trident at the ready.
Last week, we got around to enjoying this year’s Heavensturn event. It was a little different with trivia questions, but was enjoyable, and enlightening. It’s not a very long event overall, but still fun! The fortune draw came back once again this year as well, and we all pulled to see our annual fortune.
Most of us faired rather well, except for Aikirees.
~One of these is very much not like the others~
What’s good even with the misfortune ones is they give advice on what to do to turn the fortunes around, so it’s not necessarily an ‘ominously bad’ fortune to get.
Hope everyone who went forth to get a fortune got what they hoped for! Just remember, even ones like Aikirees can be spun around to become great ones too!
Merry Christmas & Happy Starlight Celebration y’all! Here’s to best wishes on a wonderfully Happy Holidays, and conclusion to 2024! From all of us to y’all, we really and truly hope it’s been a wonderful one!
Lizicus seems so thrilled to be a reindeer.
Let the countdown to 2025 begin, as we keep kicking tails into the new year!
These two were continuing their escapades deep underwater on the First only to come across this big feller stopping them in their tracks. Miss Lizz’s take in this scenario would be to clearly leap into it not questioning the repercussions (if any), whereas Miss Laureine likes to take in her surroundings before proceeding with a plan of attack.
Their opposites tend to balance out rather favorably, even in scenarios like this one and to Laureine’s frustration sometimes. Now, the big inquiry to this predicament is who’s plan will they go with?
Lizicus decided to assist Laureine with some excursions with one leading them deep underneath the Crystal Tower resting on the First. Finally reaching the depths of the Twinning unscathed, they were greeted by the massive Tycoon. One marvelous piece of Ironworks technology that poor Laureine loathed to have to destroy for the safety of everyone.
She could only wonder what other powers it could have been able to answer…
Lizicus, on her way to the First, managed to get a gorgeous morning view of Mor Dhona while flying towards the Syrcus Trench. It always looks so strangely calm if the morning sun hits the region just right, kind of like a still-life in a way. Years ago, I came passing through there once and was able to see such a spectacle as well; something very much never forgotten.
Reminiscing aside, it’s another Monday morning upon us! Y’all have a wonderful day and week ahead. Y’all certainly got this and always will. Kick so much tail!
~Two figures approach: one that looks demonic in appearance while the other is more angelic. The Angelic one ends up giving strange and odd suggestions with various uses of ‘rad’ in the process, while the demonic one gives good solid advice. They’re suggestions tend to either end up in self debate with the person they’re trying to help left even more puzzled. Is this the self-couscous, or something far more devious…?~
These two had a heyday after finally acquiring the Diabolos wings for 800 Hunt Nuts. The ‘demonic’ looking bodysuit Laureine wore was inspired by a cover from the band Shredder 1984’s ‘Nemesis’ cover. Lizicus just wanted to be the more angelic-like counterpart because she was amused by it. Their masks are the Ghost Barque Mask of Maiming from The Sirensong Sea dyed accordingly.
Whenever they have some downtime, they might appear here and their donning that outfit as they did very late one night – finding a spot in Gridania while also being silly ‘guarding’ EOCA HQ’s entrance gate.
They really do have a natural talent to be counteracting to each other in a playful way, and in this case far surpass something that Aikirees and I would have a rather hard time pulling off just as well. What will they get up to next? That’s anyone’s guess including my own!
Miss Laureine was able to catch a clear, crisp morning in Il Mheg the other day. The updated weather effects (or they seem to be) from Dawntrail really give a whole new view for certain!
Good Morning y’all! Y’all have a wonderful Tuesday ahead and y’all got this!
I decided to work on another airship to help the now rank 41 U.S.S. Voyager with surveying the skies. Miss Laureine was around to work on some woodworking quests, so she as well as Juli assisted with acquiring materials to get the first section underway!
This new one will be airborne in no time and soaring the skies in no time!
Was a quieter evening the other day; Miss Laureine and I needed to meet up briefly for EOCA-related tasks, but also just to see how things have been. We ended up heading out to the Moon for some survey research in regards to upcoming content that may or may not revolve around one of Aikirees’ past lives.
The result was unfortunately inconclusive, but even with that setback, the scenery along was worth the trip. It’s been a very long time since either of us had stepped foot up there, and with the whole view of home visible, it made it all the more wonderful.
The view and moment were sweetened even greater when Hun came up to spend the remaining part of the evening alongside us in just basking out into the cosmos discussing how the day went. It was a nice way to end the day for certain, and one we hadn’t done in quite some time.
